Sales Development Representative
As a boy in Germany, Korbin would watch his dad practice sales presentations for Documentum in the family living room. A couple of decades later, Korbin would be across the globe working for the same company. "I was already familiar with some of the products before I even started working at EMC," he says.
Korbin now works in sales development for EMC. When prospective businesses express interest in an EMC product, he contacts them and refers them to a sales expert. So he can refer calls to the right subject matter experts, Korbin has broad knowledge of EMC hardware and software.
Communication skills are important in this position. "I didn’t have any computer experience prior to joining EMC, but language comes naturally to me and I learned the technical terminology pretty easily," said Korbin, a native German speaker also fluent in English.
As if moving from Germany to the U.S. wasn’t enough, Korbin is now responsible for one of the country’s largest sales regions. Only two other representatives share his district. "Multi-tasking is a critical skill in my position. I also get calls from Germany and the Caribbean so it helps out to be bilingual."
